Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces farfalle (bowtie pasta)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Avocado or olive oil for spraying the air fryer basket
  • Marinara sauce, Ranch or other sauce for serving

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, 8-10 minutes. Drain the water but do not rinse the pasta.
  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
  • Transfer the cooked pasta to a large bowl. Add the olive oil, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt and stir it together to coat the pasta.
  • Spray air fryer basket lightly with oil. Working in batches, arrange a single layer of pasta in the air fryer basket. Cook 8-10 minutes until pasta is golden brown and crunchy. Toss the pasta with tongs once or twice while the pasta is cooking (the pasta may stick a little to the basket). Transfer pasta chips to a plate and repeat with the remaining pasta.
  • Serve pasta chips with marinara sauce or other desired dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Cook pasta just until al dente since it will continue cooking in the air fryer.
  • Preheat the air fryer for best results.
  • While typically you can just shake food in the air fryer basket, with these pasta chips, you may have to toss them with tongs to get any pieces sticking to the bottom of the basket.
  • Cook the pasta chips in batches and avoid overcrowding the basket so that they cook evenly.
  • Don't overcook the pasta chips, remove them before they get too brown. They will crisp up as they cool.
  • Vary the seasoning on the chips as you like- some good options are onion powder, paprika or cayenne pepper.
