This fun twist on a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich uses nutrient-dense apples instead of bread!

Calories:

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of apple cut crosswise, ½-inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (or any nut butter)
  • 2 teaspoons strawberry or raspberry jelly or preserves
  • Optional: granola, chocolate chips or coconut flakes

Instructions

  • Spread the peanut butter on one slice of apple and spread the jelly on the second slice. Close it to make a sandwich.
  • For different variations, try substituting the jelly with granola, chocolate chips or coconut.

Notes

If not eating right away, sprinkle the apple slices with a small amount of lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
