Equipment

Ingredients

Burger:

  • 1 pound 93% lean ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Bowl:

  • 8 cups chopped Romaine lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ cup sliced red onion
  • ½ cup sliced pickles
  • 12 ounces frozen sweet potato fries, cooked according to package directions
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Shake Shack Sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon paprika
  • Optional garnish: sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Brown the beef, breaking it up as it cooks, until it is fully cooked through, 5-7 minutes.
  • To make the sauce, place all of the sauce ingredients in a bowls or mini food processor and mix until smooth.
  • To assemble the bowls, divide the lettuce among 4 bowls. Then add the cooked beef, tomatoes, onion, pickles, sweet potato fries, and cheese. Drizzle the sauce on top and garnish with sesame seeds. Devour!

Notes

  • The best part of these burger bowls is how customizable they are! Build your burger bowl with whatever your favorite burger ingredients are.
  • I like to use traditional burger toppings like fresh lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and pickles in my bowl but some other ideas are diced avocado, bacon, caramelized onions or jalapeño peppers.
  • Instead of ground beef, you can use ground turkey or chicken. To make these burger bowls vegetarian, you can use a store-bought veggies burger like Beyond Burgers or a homemade veggie burger.
  • I use frozen sweet potato fries in this recipe for convenience, but you can definitely make your own fries or diced potatoes. I'm a fan of Alexia brand sweet potato fries.
