Equipment

Ingredients

  • 4 mahi mahi fillets (4 oz each)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • mango salsa (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to medium-high heat and brush the grill grates with oil.
  • Pat the mahi mahi fillets dry with a paper towel and brush them with olive oil.
  • Mix the dried spices together in a small bowl.  Sprinkle the spice mix on the fillets.
  • Place the fish on the hot grill.  Cook for 3-4 minutes until grill marks form and the fish easily releases from the grill. Flip and cook another 3-4 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove the mahi mahi from the grill and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top.  If desired, top with mango salsa

Notes

    • You can use fresh or frozen mahi mahi. Be sure to defrost frozen fish fully and pat it dry before cooking.
    • Mahi mahi has a firm texture, making it ideal for grilling. However, you can also cook it on a stovetop grill pan or even in the oven.
    • Avoid overcooking mahi mahi, as it can become dry. Aim for a total cooking time of 8-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) as checked with a meat thermometer.
    • Leftover mahi mahi can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. You can use them to make mahi mahi tacos
