Here's my review of Daily Harvest, a company that delivers delicious, chef-crafted, plant-based foods right to your door!

Thank you to Daily Harvest for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
Do you ever feel like you want to eat healthier food but you just don’t have the time to cook? The speed at which we live today often forces us to choose convenient foods over more nutritious options. Only about 1 in 10 people eat the minimum recommended amount of fruits (1 ½ to 2 cups) and vegetables (2 to 3 cups) per day.
As an ER doctor, I work long shifts at the hospital so it’s important to try and fuel my body with the right foods. It’s easy to give into unhealthy snacking at work where there are many packaged snacks filled with additives and preservatives.
So when I was given the opportunity to try Daily Harvest, I said yes!

What is Daily Harvest?
Daily Harvest is a company that delivers thoughtfully sourced, chef-crafted foods to your door, all built on fruits and vegetables, and ready to be enjoyed in minutes.
You build your box, choosing any combination of delicious superfood eats, and they are delivered to your doorstep. They come in pre-portioned cups that are ready to be stored in your freezer. All of the ingredients are clearly listed on the cups so that you know exactly what you’re eating.
When you’re ready to enjoy them, you simply add a liquid base to the cup and blend, soak or heat. Everything can be made in minutes. No prep necessary, no mess, and easy cleanup. So convenient!

I reviewed Daily Harvest a couple of years ago and I’m amazed by how much they've expanded their menu since then. They have so many different collections! I sampled smoothies, harvest bowls, bites, flatbreads, oat bowls, and scoops.
You can check out all of the collections on their website, which has colorful, detailed photos of the dishes. All of the recipes that they offer are crafted by a chef and a nutritionist so you’re getting the best of both worlds- tasty food that you can feel good about eating.

Smoothies:
I was able to try several smoothies from Daily Harvest and they were all so easy to make. Simply take the cup out of the freezer, pour in the milk of your choice (I tried regular skim milk and almond milk) and toss all of it into a blender.
Blend until smooth and you’re done! Pour it right back into the same cup and enjoy. There’s minimal clean up and you can even take it on the go!
My daughter Sienna’s favorite was the Mint + Cacao Smoothie. The ingredients (which are listed in bold on the cup) are: banana, spinach, cacao, cashew, peppermint and chlorella. She loves mint chocolate chip ice cream and this smoothie tasted like a healthier mint chocolate chip milkshake. It was not overly sweet and the bananas kept it nice and creamy.
We also really enjoyed the Strawberry + Peach smoothie, which was fruity and refreshing. If you’re new to green smoothies, the Banana + Greens is a great starter smoothie with a mild earthy flavor that’s balanced out by the sweet banana.

Harvest Bowls:
I was really excited to try the Harvest Bowls because there are so many interesting options! And they can be cooked in the microwave (or on the stovetop) in just 4-5 minutes.
My husband Pete and I really enjoyed the Sweet Potato + Wild Rice Hash. It was colorful with a nice variety of ingredients and textures including creamy sweet potatoes, northern beans and wild rice. It had bold flavors reminiscent of Mexican or Indian food thanks to ingredients like smoked paprika, cumin and maitake mushroom powder.
Overall it was a nice, filling bowl that would be perfect for lunch. If you want to add more protein, I think it would be delicious topped with some chicken breast or a fried egg.

My daughter Sienna really liked the Broccoli + Cheese Harvest Bowl, which had a nice cheesy flavor from nutritional yeast, a vegan ingredient that's commonly used as a substitute for cheese. If you’re trying to get your kids to eat more veggies, this bowl would be a good one to try.

Bites:
The Daily Harvest “bites,” are tasty little superfood-packed snacks. There are 7 bites in each cup and they’re perfect when you need a little pick-me-up in between meals.
The Hazelnut+ Chocolate Bites will definitely satisfy any chocolate craving. They tasted like Nutella truffles with a soft, creamy texture and a delightful crunch from hazelnuts. Those didn’t last long in my chocolate-loving household!
I also enjoyed the Peach + Almond Bites, which tasted like peach pie. They had a warm spice from cinnamon and a pleasant, chewy texture from oats.
Although the instructions said to eat them straight out of the freezer, I preferred the texture of the bites when I let them sit out for 5-10 minutes first.

Flatbreads:
The flatbreads are also new products that I’ve never tried previously and I was delighted by how tasty and convenient they were to make. I popped them in my toaster oven and they were ready in about 20 minutes.
The Artichoke + Spinach Flatbread tasted like spinach and artichoke dip on a pizza. The ingredients are: broccoli, artichoke, spinach, cauliflower, tahini and thyme. It was light and flavorful with a nice creamy sauce made of tahini and a flavorful, broccoli-packed crust.
For just 360 calories, I found it to be a filling and nutritious option for lunch. I also think it would make a nice dinner accompanied by soup or a salad.

Oat Bowls:
I was interested in trying the oat bowls because I feel like breakfast is the meal that people most often skip due to a lack of time. With the Daily Harvest Oat Bowls, you can have a convenient and well-balanced breakfast in minutes.
Simply pour some milk into the container and heat it in the microwave (or on the stovetop) for two minutes. If you prefer your oats cold, just soak them overnight. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
The Mulberry + Dragonfruit Oat Bowl had a yummy combination of blueberries, raspberries, mulberries and dragon fruit. I love a hearty bowl of oatmeal topped with fresh berries so this one was my favorite.
Pete and Sienna, who are the chocolate lovers in the house, enjoyed the Cherry + Dark Chocolate Oat Bowl. The dark chocolate was slightly bitter for me but they liked the combination of chocolate and tart cherries and the rich, creamy texture that was almost like a dessert.

Scoops:
This dairy-free ice cream was definitely one of the winners of the bunch! I had no idea what to expect from the Strawberry + Rich, Rippled Berry Compote and I was very pleasantly surprised.
This frozen treat, made with strawberries, raspberries, dragon fruit and coconut cream, was delicious and bursting with fruity flavor. It even contains gut-friendly probiotics, which are important for digestive health.
I let it sit out for 10 minutes to soften up like the package said and then it was the perfect texture- creamy and easily scoopable just like regular ice cream.
If chocolate is your thing, I would highly recommend the Chocolate + Ooey, Gooey Midnight Fudge. Made with cacao, avocado, and coconut cream, it was a creamy, dreamy chocolaty delight!

The Bottom Line
Overall, I think that Daily Harvest is a great option for people who want to eat healthy food but don’t necessarily have the time or desire to spend hours in the kitchen. Everything comes in pre-portioned containers and there’s no prep work at all so it’s super convenient.
I’ve tried other meal services that involve a lot of prepping and cooking but this service is different. If you’re looking for fast, easy and healthy, then this one is for you.
I love that Daily Harvest makes eating more fruits and vegetables easy. Their food is all-natural and plant based with no additives, preservatives or fillers so you’ll feel good knowing that you’re eating the best quality ingredients.
Although I’m a big advocate of cooking at home, I can picture incorporating Daily Harvest recipes into my life on days when I need the convenience factor. The smoothies are the perfect grab-and-go breakfast when I’m heading to work in the morning or after a workout.
The harvest bowls and flatbreads are an excellent option to have on hand for a quick and nutritious lunch or light dinner. I can even see taking the harvest bowls or the oat bowls to work since they cook so quickly in the microwave.
And I love having the bites and scoops handy when I’m craving something sweet.

You will need to have a powerful blender for some of the dishes so you may want to consider investing in one if you go with this service. You will also need storage space in your freezer since all of the dishes come frozen.
They come frozen for a reason- freezing fruits and vegetables at their nutritional peak helps retain more vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It also means that the dishes can be stored for a long time without having to worry about spoilage or waste.
I also like that Daily Harvest offers flexible deliveries and a wide variety of options so that you can build a plan that is customized for you. If you have special dietary needs like gluten-free, keto or paleo, no problem!
Their collections have grown so much over the years and there are options to suit every taste. With Daily Harvest, you don’t have to sacrifice flavor to eat healthy and nourish your body.
