I was excited to join The Dr. Oz Show once again, this time for the Dairy Debate episode. I got to talk about the best dairy-free products on the market including ice creams and cheese. I even got to demonstrate my 4-Ingredient Dairy-Free Parmesan Cheese recipe.
What is dairy-free parmesan?
What is dairy-free parmesan cheese? It's a mixture of cashews, nutritional yeast, salt and garlic powder. When you grind them up in a food processor, it turns into a delicious, crumbly mixture. It's a great vegan substitute for parmesan cheese!
This dairy-free parmesan is perfect for topping dishes pasta, pizza, soup or garlic bread. It's also delicious on popcorn. And it's so easy to make!
What is nutritional yeast?
Nutritional yeast is one of the main ingredients in this dairy-free parmesan cheese. If you've never had it, it's an inactive yeast that has a naturally nutty, cheesy flavor.
You can find nutritional yeast in health food stores, specialty grocery stores or online. It's popular in the vegan world because it adds a pop of flavor to a wide variety of dishes. It's also a very good source of vitamin B12, which is typically only found in animal products.
