I made these 3 easy, nutritious no-cook pasta sauces on The Dr. Oz Show this week!
Jarred pasta sauces are often tempting because they're quick and easy. And at the end of a long day, the thought of coming home and making a homemade pasta sauce may be completely overwhelming. But the good news is that I have recipes for 3 nutritious no-cook pasta sauces that are super easy to make and you don't even have to turn on the stove!

Pasta with Avocado Sauce
Equipment
Ingredients
- 12 ounces dry linguini or other pasta
- 2 ripe avocados halved, seeded and peeled
- ½ cup basil leaves
- ½ cup baby spinach leaves
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- โ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- โ cup olive oil
- Optional: garnish with basil leaves
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
- Add the avocado, basil, spinach, garlic, lemon juice, cheese and salt to a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. With the blender running, stream in the olive oil until incorporated.
- Pour the sauce over the pasta and toss to coat. Add some of the pasta water as needed to thin out the sauce to desired consistency. Season the pasta with salt and pepper to taste.

Pasta with No-Cook Tomato Sauce
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 pints red and yellow cherry or grape tomatoes halved
- 3 cloves garlic finely chopped
- ½ cup basil leaves chopped
- ½ cup parsley chopped
- ¼ teaspoon chili flakes
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 8 ounces dry spaghetti
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Place the tomatoes, garlic, basil, parsley, chili flakes, salt, pepper, and olive oil in a large bowl.
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
- Toss the pasta with the sauce. Add some of the reserved pasta water as needed to coat the pasta. Top with Parmesan cheese.

Pasta with Sundried Tomato Pesto
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 pound dry farfalle penne or rotini
- 1 cup jarred sundried tomatoes in olive oil
- ½ cup fresh basil
- โ cup almonds
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- Pinch chili flakes
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: crumbled ricotta salata for topping
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
- Add the sundried tomatoes, basil, almonds, garlic, vinegar, chili flakes, and Parmesan cheese to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. With the food processor running, add the oil in a steady stream until a chunky paste forms.
- Toss the pasta with the pesto. Add some of the pasta water as needed to thin out the sauce to desired consistency. Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste. Top with crumbled cheese if desired.
