Air frying is the best way to revive leftover pizza! No more soggy crust or dry, burnt pizza. Learn my foolproof method to reheat pizza in the air fryer and get a perfectly crispy crust, and ooey, gooey melted cheese in a matter of minutes. You'll never reheat pizza in the microwave or oven again!
My air fryer has become one of my most used kitchen appliances. I use mine to make everything from frozen sweet potato fries to quesadillas, Beyond Burgers, and delicious salmon teriyaki. Air fryers are also great for heating and crisping up leftover food like crispy potatoes and grilled cheese. Read my complete guide on how to reheat food in an air fryer.
And now, air frying has become my new favorite way to reheat leftover pizza! Who doesn't love pizza night, right? But let's be honest, it's almost impossible to recreate the same hot, crispy texture of fresh pizza the next day.
I admit that I occasionally skip the reheating step completely and enjoy my leftover pizza cold the next day. But if you're not a fan of cold pizza, then the air fryer is the BEST way to revive leftover slices! It's fast, easy and pretty foolproof.
I've tried different methods of reheating leftover pizza and air frying is the best option! It rejuvenates leftover slices, heating them up to crispy perfection in a matter of minutes. Not only does it crisp up the crust, the air fryer also melts the cheese and crisps up the toppings. The end result is a slice that's just as good (if not better) than the first day!
Compared to the conventional oven, air frying takes much less time. The air fryer will reheat your pizza while you're still waiting for the oven to preheat. Plus, you don't have to heat up the whole oven for a couple of slices of pizza. The air fryer also tends to keep foods moist without drying them out like the oven can do.
Compared to the microwave, air frying gives a better texture. No limp, soggy, oily pizza like you get in the microwave!
So the next time you need to heat up leftover pizza, use your air fryer- it's a game changer!

How An Air Fryer Works
An air fryer is basically a mini convection oven that sits on your countertop. An air fryer cooks your food using hot air rather than hot oil. I have this Ninja Air Fryer but there are many different brands and models on the market.
Air fryers have a heating element at the top and a mechanical fan that helps circulate the hot air around your food more efficiently. This makes your food nice and crispy on the outside while keeping it moist and juicy on the inside.

How to Reheat Pizza in the Air Fryer
See recipe card below for full instructions.
- Step 1- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F for a few minutes. Place the pizza slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer- don't overlap the slices. The number of slices you can fit will depend on the size and type of air fryer. You can place the pizza directly into the basket or line the basket with a disposable parchment paper liner or reusable silicone liner for easy clean up. Read my tutorial on how to make your own perforated parchment liners.
- Step 2- Cook for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy. You can open the basket and check the pizza occasionally to see if it's warmed to your liking. If it's browning too quickly, lower the temperature by 25 degrees. If it's not done after 4 minutes, you can add more time as needed until done. Carefully remove the hot pizza from the air fryer with a spatula or tongs and repeat with any remaining slices of pizza.
Chef's Tips
- For easy clean up, line your air fryer basket with a disposable perforated parchment liner or reusable silicone mat. You can also use aluminum foil but cut some holes in the foil for air flow so the bottom of the pizza can get crispy.
- Arrange the pizza slices in a single layer in the basket without overlapping or stacking them so that they cook evenly and don't stick to each other.
- There's no need to spray oil on the pizza- the cheese already has enough oil in it.
- Some air fryer models heat up faster than others so keep an eye on the pizza and check on it occasionally to make sure it's not browning too quickly. If it's getting dark too quickly, lower the temperature by 25 degrees.
- The final cook time will depend on the model of your air fryer as well as the thickness of the pizza. Thin crust pizza will cook faster and thick crust or deep dish pizza will take longer.
Line your air fryer basket with these reusable perforated silicone mats. You can buy square or round mats. The holes allow hot air to circulate around the food so that it cooks evenly and crisps up nicely. It also makes clean up easier!
